A Safer High Point is what most of us want for ourselves and our loved ones. But what if your neighborhood is not safe? What if you are worried about your parents or grandparents? There are things you can do.
If a crime is in progress or if there is a life threatening emergency, call 911. The dispatcher will ask some questions. Do your best to answer them clearly. Do not hang up until they tell you to do so.
If you are on the telephone and hear gunshots, do not hang up. Get down on the floor, away from windows or doors. If the phone has a cord, drop the phone but do not hang up. This will leave the phone line open for the 911 operator.
If you know a crime has been committed, report it! Call the High Point Police Department at 883-3224. The police cannot help if they don’t know about it. Remember, you also can give information about a crime by calling Crimestoppers at 889-4000. If your information leads to an arrest, you may receive a reward.
If you want to find out more about crime in any area of High Point, check the Police to Citizen website, which has a map showing crimes committed throughout the city. You can also download a copy of a police report on this site.
