The Work Continues

The day to day work of building relationships, guiding our clients in skill building and positive decision making, and supporting their efforts to change their lives continues.  High Point Community Against Violence welcomes your participation in our monthly meetings as well as at our notifications or “call ins.”

The next monthly meeting will be April 10, 8:00 a.m. at the Washington Terrace Park community center on Gordon Road.  See our Events page for all upcoming meetings.

The notification meeting will be on May 7 at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall on Hamilton Street.

National Night Out is August 2

National Night Out (NNO) is an event, now in its 28th year, that helps improve community and law enforcement relations.  Held in communities throughout our nation, NNO is usually a community or street event where local people meet in the street or at a specified meeting place/agency to celebrate community, safety, peace, and non-violence.    Currently, there are 23 neighborhood events scheduled for High Point!  We invite you to hold an event for your community if you are not already involved.  Want more information?  contact Community Relations Officer, Robert Burchette, of the High Point Police Department for more information.  Some of HPCAV members will be floating to a few of these events across High Point.  We hope to see you involved!

Visitors Coming

HP CAV is hosting people from across the country July 12-14 as part of the National Network of Safe Communities PEER Exchange Program, in cooperation with John Jay College. We will be a training site for three days as representatives from different communities come here to learn how we have been successful in reducing our violent crime.   Our guests will be participating in our Repeat Violent Crime Offender Call-in on July 12.
